Discover the Christmas Candlelight Walk in Augusta – Augusta, Missouri

Approximatley 1,000 luminaries illuminate your way throughout Historic Augusta, MO the first two Friday evenings of December from five to ten PM.  The annual attraction has more than a twenty-five year history and has grown into a tradition for the entire community to host.  A free Trolley Shuttle will carry you through town to tour the many shopkeepers and antique stores, wine producers and brewery, restaurants and food stands, discover unique art including hand-blown glass, crafts, and sculpture, just a few of northeast Missouri tourism attractions.

The area churches can help get you in the holiday spirit with Christmas caroling and invite you to join along or just relax in their church sanctuary with a giant Christmas tree.  The town square can heighten your holiday cheer with a horse drawn sleigh ride around the center of town, a toasty bon fire with Chestnuts roasting and marshmallows toasting, and Santa Claus arriving to listen to you Christmas wishes.

The season enthusiast may enjoy the challenge of the Holiday Scavenger Hunt and a Christmas quiz and an night awash with gathering treasurers from all the shops.  You can turn your answers to our History Museum and enter for gifts from our local merchants.

You can easily relax by enjoying a band at Mount Pleasant Winery sipping a glass of wine; spend the night at dinner accompanying friends at Café Bella, Augusta Brewing Company, Ashley’s Rose or Balducci’s; relax with a therapeutic massage at Halcyon or they can shop till you drop at a various of specialty shops and antique stores.

Enjoy the holiday season in Augusta, Missouri on either of the first two Fridays of December with the Candlelight Christmas Walk.  The local Augusta Chamber of Commerce sponsors this event annually and you will discover the Christmas cheer throughout the village.  We recommend you make your Bed & Breakfast reservations quickly, before all the rooms are reserved. The festivities starts at five PM and goes until 10 PM with over one thousand luminaries illuminating your way through the village.

Mount Pleasant winery hosts a no-cost concert and don’t miss the warm mulled-spiced wine at Augusta Winery.  Our brewery has a great variety of micro-brews and meals.  Halcyon spa provides free chair massage to relax you during the hustle and bustle of the festivities.  The restaurants and food stands will satisfy your hunger with specials and homemade food.  Attactions include St. Nick, horse drawn sleigh rides, kids activites at the library, Christmas caroling with the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, our Town Historian, the History Museum, a Scavenger Hunt and a few new businesses.
